Five Fabulous Fannies from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The busy weekend is over, and it's a new day. The sky was pretty this morning.

We had a really nice visit with the kids yesterday evening. We were celebrating Erik's birthday from last week, but mainly, we were just visiting. Time spent listening to the things they're doing is always enjoyable.

There was a lot to do yesterday morning, but I took some time to stitch the first stitches on the 6th of Grandpa's Bridges.

From there, I went straight to work, baking some cookies. These were just a present for ...

Fun Project from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Here we are again at Friday. The weeks are seeming to fly by right at the moment. Is it just me or does time move faster as we approach the end of the year? And let me just say I've been ready for the presidential campaign to end for at least the past six months. (Probably I was ready before it even started.) Just a few more weeks, and then we'll get a reprieve.

After finishing yesterday's post, I went to work finishing up September's "Joy in the Ordinary" block. It still ...

Changing and Rearranging from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a foggy and cloudy morning here. We're expecting the clouds to burn off, and the day should be relatively warm. It doesn't matter much to me. I'm already in fall mode. Later this morning, I'm going to get some Old Fashioned Chicken and Dumplings started in my Dutch oven. It's a recipe I reworked from a slow cooker recipe to make more efficient use of my cooking vessels. And if you ask me, it's time to bring out the hearty soups for our dining pleasure. If summer is ...

Snowmen Rule the Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The day was much more energetic yesterday. I was feeling back to my normal self, "normal" being a relative term. I don't know about you, but none of my relatives are normal. We were having some leftover Brunswick Stew from the freezer for our dinner, and so I started my day by baking some bread to go on the side. This is Cast Iron Beer-Batter Cheese Bread.

Ironically, I was looking for ways to use up some gruyere cheese when I came across this recipe. I've made it before. I'd already figured out ...

Vacation Vacay from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We took a much-needed day of rest yesterday. There was a lot to do before we left home. When we got on our way, we were driving, driving, driving. And now, here in Moab, we've been Jeeping, Jeeping, Jeeping. We took a break from our vacation yesterday, starting with upholding our breakfast tradition at the Jailhouse Cafe. We left Sadie practicing her adorable look.

She really just wanted us to leave so she could get some uninterrupted sleep, without all that pesky petting all the time.

We each chose the Southwestern Eggs Benedict. It's ...

Betwixt and Between from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was kind of a dull day yesterday. I got in a Bowflex workout, and then I did some quilting. My problem is that we're close enough to a trip that I don't want to start on anything I can't finish, but I don't have enough of anything else to fill my time. It's a little too early to start packing, although I have a menu planned and a grocery list made. Today I'm getting my hair cut. Tomorrow we're doing our grocery shopping. After that, it'll be ...

Sewing Season from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We've had a couple of rainy days Thursday and Friday. It was good soaking rain, and it will go a long way toward greening up our field. After having to evacuate for a wildfire a couple of years ago, we're a little gunshy about leaving our place in the fall these days. With this bit of moisture, we can feel a little better about it. One of our trees is reminding us that fall is just around the corner.

I took the first stitches on the new Phenology piece yesterday. The motifs are small ...

Food, Glorious Food from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. How's everybody doing? We're doing a little better at this end. My wrist is improving slowly. A big thank you to everyone who sent well wishes. I didn't respond to everyone since I was serious about giving my wrist a rest, but your comments were very much appreciated. I'll probably continue to take a few more days off from quilting, but I was able to do some sewing yesterday. Of course, slow-stitching was never in question. I had lots of time for that over the weekend. But if I couldn't do ...

It's a Start from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy morning here yesterday. After writing my blog post, I took the first stitches on the third embroidered section of the Girls' Getaway quilt. Mainly, I was just cleaning up the bits and bobs of floss left over from the last section.

When I get back to it today, my floss bobbins will be clean, and I can do some serious stitching.

From there I started two loads of clothes (one load at a time, obviously), and I baked a Blueberry Zucchini Cake with Lemon Buttercream. I'm only making half the recipe ...

Scrappy Plus Puzzle from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast this morning because I'm going to the farmer's market with Erik and Mae. It's one of my favorite ways to start a day. We saw them for dinner a couple of weeks ago, but this is only the second time I'll see them since we've been home from our trip. They lead busy lives, and it's always a treat when I can spend a little time with them and hear about what they've been up to.

As I mentioned yesterday, I was in the mood ...
